Starting Fall 2021, floating licenses of ZBrush are no longer available for student checkout on personal computers.
Warning
Info

These licenses are intended for use only by students in the following classes:

  • ANIM 2303, 3303, 3323, 3333

  • ILLU 3272

If you are not enrolled in these classes, please do not use licenses needed by students for class. Thank you for your cooperation.

Note

When you are done using ZBrush, remember to sign out. If you don’t, the license will still be in use.
This is crucial because we only have 55 floating licenses available to use.

Already installed ZBrush but the license just won’t work? Jump down to the troubleshooting section.

  1. Click this link to download the installer .zip archive. If you see a “Can’t scan for viruses” warning pop up, click Download anyway.

  2. ZBrush for Windows.zip will be downloaded to your Downloads folder. Right-click and Extract all.

  3. Open the ZBrush_2021.5.1 folder and double-click ZBrush_2021.1.5.1_FL_Installer.exe to open the installer and follow the prompts to install the ZBrush app. Note: complete the Zbrush installation with defaults (changing the install location may cause the license to not work)

  4. Next, open the Post folder and double-click PostInstall.vbs to build the floating license.

  5. Open the Start menu and scroll all the way down to Z to locate the ZBrush folder. Open it and double click the ZBrush app to open it. Remember to close it when you’re done to release the license!

  6. Finally delete the ZBrush files from your Downloads to free up that 1.2 GB of space.
