Passwordless Sign-in

Feel that? That’s the feeling of not having to enter that long password anymore. Now you can use the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone or tablet to securely sign in without even having to enter your password! Follow these instructions.

Passwordless sign-in is not a requirement. You can go back to using your password at any time.

You still have to enter your password for systems that don’t use Single Sign-On, such as Self Service and the Faculty Staff Portal.

You must have the Microsoft Authenticator mobile app on your phone or tablet to use passwordless. If you already use the app for Two-Factor Authentication, skip ahead to the iOS or Android section, depending on what kind of mobile device you want to set up. Otherwise, start with Download and set up Microsoft Authenticator mobile app.

Download and set up the Microsoft Authenticator app

On your computer, go to mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info.

On this page, you’ll see all of the account verification methods you have set up, such as personal email addresses and phone numbers used when resetting your password. Beneath that, there’s a link you can use to sign out everywhere in case you lost your authentication device (your phone).

Click Add method.

Choose Authenticator app from the options in the drop down and click Add.

Follow the prompts to download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device from the App Store (iPhone) or Play Store (Android). Scan the QR code to set up your CCAD account in the app. When asked what kind of account you’re adding, choose Work or School account.

Back on your computer, click Change next to “Default sign-in method.” Choose Microsoft Authenticator - notification and click the Confirm button.

You’re ready to set up passwordless sign-in!
