ZBrush student license

These licenses are intended for use only by students in the following classes:

  • ANIM 2303, 3303, 3323, 3333

  • ILLU 3272

If you are not enrolled in these classes, please do not use licenses needed by students for class. Thank you for your cooperation.

When you are done using ZBrush, remember to sign out. If you don’t, the license will still be in use.
This is crucial because we only have 55 floating licenses available to use.

Instructions to download and install

Mac

  1. Click this link to download the installer .zip archive. If you see a “Can’t scan for viruses” warning pop up, click Download anyway.

  3. Right-click ZBrush 2021.5.1.pkg.zip and choose Open to open the installer and follow the prompts to install the ZBrush app. Note: Due to a macOS security restriction if you double-click the file you may not be able to open it.

ZBrush license issues & troubleshooting

So you’ve downloaded ZBrush following the instructions above. You’ve run the “PostInstall” script. But something still isn’t working right! Try the instructions below, or reach out to the Help Desk at helpdesk@ccad.edu for more support.

First things to try

  • Make certain that you're installing ZBrush to the default location (not a secondary HDD or SSD).

  • Reboot your computer and try launching the application after installation.

  • Uninstall and reinstall ZBrush.

  • Disable Windows Defender and any other anti-virus software you might have. Then, uninstall and re-install ZBrush again and try to launch. (If it's successful, you should be able to re-enable your anti-virus software.)

“The floating license lib could not be found. Unable to check out license”

If you’re still receiving a message like this, there may be a firewall between you and the server. If you’re feeling tech savvy you can follow the instructions below, or contact us at helpdek@ccad.edu and we can help you out.

These instructions are for Windows computers only.

Step 1: Edit the license file

  1. Navigate to \Program Files\Pixologic\ZBrush 2021 FL\Licenses. Right click the .lic file and open in Text Editor.

  2. After ISV pixologic add a space and then port=2377

  3. Replace 172.16.36.12 with license3.ccad.edu

  4. Save and exit the file.

Step 2: Open TCP ports

You will need to do this twice, once for port 2376 and once for port 2377.

  1. Navigate to Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Firewall.

  2. Select Advanced settings and highlight Inbound Rules in the left pane.

  3. Right click Inbound Rules and select New Rule.

  4. Add the port you need to open and click Next.

  5. Add the protocol (TCP) and the port number into the next window and click Next.

  6. Select Allow the connection in the next window and hit Next.

  7. Select the network type as you see fit and click Next.

  8. Name the rule and click Finish.
