Home
This is the Main Menu. It contains links to the Dashboard and My Courses within Moodle, as well as links to other CCAD systems such as Self-Service, and IT Knowledge Base.
Your Profile at the top right can be used to upload a picture and set various preferences. This is also where you can access notifications and Moodle Messages.

Site News is where you can see updates about CCAD Moodle, including when classes are available to faculty and students, and when site maintenance is scheduled to occur.
The Course Search box allows you to find courses based on the course code or keywords in the title.
The My Courses section contains courses that you're enrolled in. To see them in a list view, click Dashboard in the Main Menu.

Dashboard
The Dashboard is a page that provides users with details of their progress and upcoming deadlines.
The Dashboard calendar gives you an overview of the month. Assignments are shown on their due date. To view more information about an assignment, click on its title.

My courses
You can view all of your courses, including those from prior semesters, on the My Courses page. Another option is to search by course name. Using the 4-letter program code and the 4-digit course code (for example, CORE1120) is the most effective method for finding courses.
To filter which courses you see, click on “All” to access a dropdown menu. You can select between seeing all courses, in progress, past, or future courses.
Click on one of your courses to see its Main Course Page.

Self Service
Self Service is CCAD’s online registration system. This is where you can view degree requirements, search and register for classes, view grades for prior classes, pay bills, request a change to your name as it is displayed in CCAD systems, and request an unofficial transcript.

My CCAD
My CCAD is a hub where you can access frequently used tools. These include Moodle, Self Service, email, the IT Knowledge Base, graduation information, information about resources available to students, and the online CCAD store. It also shows the school’s most recent announcements and upcoming events.

Main Course Page
The Navigation Drawer shows the structure of the course and links to each section. You can expand or collapse the drawer using the icon at the top.
To view all the announcements posted by your instructor, click the Announcements forum. You should get an email notification when an announcement is posted.
From this panel you can access general information about the class including viewing your Grades and a list of Participants.
The Activities block allows you to view all activities of a certain type, such as Forums, Assignments, Quizzes, etc.
Scroll down to content within course sections. Click the arrow to expand each section and see its materials or assignments.

Assignments

Click on any assignment to see more details and submit.
To submit an assignment, click the assignment link and click “Add submission”
Depending on the assignment settings, you will either have a text box into which to type their work or an upload area to submit your file.
You may be able to return to your work and redraft it, or you might have to click a submit button to send in a final version which cannot be changed.

Taking a quiz
Make sure you're in the correct quiz, click the quiz link on the course homepage and read the contents.
The "Attempt quiz now" button should be clicked.
To view the following page of questions, click the "Next" button at the bottom of the page.
To temporarily mark a question, click the "flag" in the box next to it.

To return to the quiz, click "Return to attempt" or the page number of any question.
The "Submit all and finish" button will score your quiz. You will be alerted that you are no longer able to modify your responses.

Forum (a.k.a. Discussion Board)
The Forum activity allows students and teachers to exchange ideas by posting comments as part of a 'thread'. Files such as images and media may be included in forum posts.

Attendance
On the course homepage, click on Attendance on either the side menu or under “General.”
You will be taken to a screen where you can view your attendance score and status for each class session.

On the course homepage, click on Grades on the top menu:
You will then be taken to a window where you can view your grades, along with other information about each grade item.

A dash (-) means there is no grade is available, or has not yet been taken for that assignment.

Turnitin
Turnitin is a web-based plagiarism detection tool that compares a student's work to a large database of text to identify potential plagiarism or citation errors. Your instructor may use Turnitin for an assignment.
