Look for the control box at the top right, where you can choose what window will be recorded for your screen capture and see whether your microphone is working. In the lower left, you should see a preview of your webcam’s video.

The next section will go into more depth about recording Loom videos.

Recording Loom videos

1. Open a Google Chrome window and go to the website you want to record. If you are recording something outside a web browser, like a PowerPoint presentation or another application on your computer, just open Chrome and proceed to the next step.

2. Click the Loom icon in your browser extension bar. If you don’t see the logo there, click the puzzle piece button to show a drop down of all your extensions and click Loom for Chrome.

3. The Loom control box will appear at the top right, and the webcam video preview circle will appear at the bottom left. Make sure you see the Microphone audio is registering the incoming signal when you speak (the blue line should be moving), and that you can see yourself in the webcam video preview.

4. In the control box on the upper right, choose whether you are recording your screen and webcam, screen only, or webcam only. Then choose if you are recording the Full Desktop or just the Current Tab.
Note: If you are recording something on your computer outside Google Chrome, you will need to choose Full Desktop.

Once you’re ready, click the Play button next to the webcam preview to begin recording your screen. While recording, use the X button to discard the take, the Pause button to pause recording and create breaks if you need to set the next section up, and the Green Check button to finish the recording.

When recordings are finished, they will be saved to the My Videos section on loom.com.
