Moodle for Faculty
Introduction
Moodle is CCAD’s Learning Management System (LMS), where you can post assignments, take attendance and grades, and provide resources for your students for both in-person and online classes. Use these pages to discover a variety of useful tools and functions so your students can get the most out of Moodle. Our current version is Moodle 4.5.
You can access Moodle at links.ccad.edu/moodle. Moodle uses CCAD’s Single Sign-On (SSO), which means you’ll log in using your CCAD email and the same passphrase you use to log into other systems such as Teams, Self Service, and campus WiFi.
All degree-seeking classes are automatically created in Moodle, so you don't have to worry about creating your class or enrolling students. If you are missing classes or students, please email Student Records at Registrar@ccad.edu.
Here’s what’s covered on this page:
Getting Started
Moodle Login Page
Go to links.ccad.edu/moodle and log in using your CCAD email address and passphrase.
If logging in for the first time, refer to our Welcome to CCAD (Faculty & Staff) page to get instructions to set up your account.
Once logged in you see the Moodle home page showing Site News.
Moodle Home Page
Across the top is the Main Menu. It contains links to the Dashboard and My Courses within Moodle, and links to other CCAD systems such as Self Service, My CCAD, the IT Knowledge Base, and the CCAD CARE Report.
At the top right is your Profile where you can upload a picture and change notification preferences. Click the speech bubble icon to open Moodle Messages.
On the right you can expand and collapse the Block Drawer, which contains various blocks such as Grade Me for grading reminders, Google and Microsoft links, and Packard Library resources.
Scroll down to view more on the home page.
4. The Course Search box allows you to find courses based on the course code or keywords in the title. The best way to search for courses is to use the 4-letter program code followed by the 4-digit course code. For example, ILLU2001.
5. My Courses contains courses that you’re teaching for faculty, and for students the courses they are enrolled in. You can also click My Courses from the Main Menu at the top to see them in a list.
Click on one of your courses to see the Course Page.
Course Page
On the lefthand side is the Navigation Drawer which contains all of the section titles for quick navigation. The Navigation Drawer can be opened and closed, like the Block Drawer, to give you more space on the screen.
The Course Menu is right under the title of the course. This menu has links to Settings, Participants or the course roster, Grades or the gradebook, Reports, and other settings under More including Course Reuse to import a previous section into a current section.
The center of the page under Course Menu contains all of the Course Content. This is where you can post course materials, assignments, discussion forums, and other activities.
The toggle icon at the top right allows you to turn Editing Mode on and off. Editing Mode must be on to make any changes to your course page.
